A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved — I do not expect the house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided. Abraham Lincoln, 1858
Lincoln’s prediction was in large part a response to the infamous Dred Scott Supreme Court decision a year earlier which effectively turned Illinois into a slave state by stripping traveling slaves of their rights. By this time slavery was simply unconscionable to much of the North and Lincoln recognized that the situation had become untenable. It’s not clear whether he intended his Biblical allusion as a prophecy or threat. But he certainly might have added, “And I will lead the nation to war to prove it.” Which he did, 3 years later. The South protected their franchise on exploitation and mischief tenaciously, killing half a million Northerners.
The Civil War is still being waged to this day by moral relativists who insist it was “not about slavery but states’ rights.” They believe that morality is determined the vicissitudes of power and buttress their claim with facts like “Slavery still exists in places around the world.” As if slavery isn’t as evil as we were lead to believe, or maybe we don’t really care about it after all.
All mischief cults eventually meet the same ignominious end, even if some still extol their memory. The only question is how many innocent people they will take along with them.
Addiction as a disease was established by the 12 Step cults. However as the cults are discredited they will implode in mutual recrimination, which will leave no one to train initiates in addiction theology. Even NIDA with its billion dollar propaganda campaign will not be able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. They trumpet that addiction is a ‘disease of free will’ and Al Jazeera and RT.com spout neo-Bolshevik agitprop for their hero Nora Volkow. Of course, everyone agrees to ‘treatment not jail’, but here’s the problem: the anti-disease contingent is gaining power and can easily discredit such doctrine. Addiction is not a disease and therefore there is no legitimate ‘treatment’ for it. Rehabs across the country are being exposed as scams. The experts know this and it’s funny to watch them distance themselves from the disease theory then circle back to embrace it. Poor Carl Hart is hopped up on adderal not sure what to believe any more. They have all painted themselves into their own corners. Of course, the right solution is to admit defeat and laugh about it over a few beers. But pride’s harsh judgment allows no such denouement.
To a great extent AA condemned itself through its own buffonish public exhibitions of insults and bullying. More recently their claims have turned to accusations of murder against those who attempt to expose them, a mark of true desperation on their part. However, the cults have protected decades of mischief of their members, and their attention will soon turn to greater threats from within their own ranks. The cult will implode in a spectacle of mutual recrimination.
Similarly agents of the Drug War discredited themselves by their own detestable behavior. The DEA’s capacity for corruption, fraud and scandal seems limitless – which actually reflects the entire history of the Drug War as detailed by Johann Hari in Chasing the Scream. No one supports it any more, even as we are subjected to its last hysterical gasps by people like Eleanor Holmes Norton who call for harsher penalties for ‘synthetic pot’ which turns children into face eating zombies. Fortunately we’ve become wise to such propaganda, and they just can’t get away with it any more. Similarly, pain patients are rebelling against restrictions on opiate prescribing, and doctors reject PHP abuses. Even Boston, long a haven for addiction exorcists and abstinence theology, has succumbed to medical marijuana’s palliative sway.
New York is considering safe injection sites, which are common in Europe and have been proven to reduce drug use, disease and mortality. But if addiction is a disease then how can you treat it with the drug that caused it? This advance will impart the fatal blow to the disease theory.
Recently addicts rallied in DC for… what? Their main goal was to reduce opiate prescriptions: “Doctors must stop prescribing opiates so that we can’t steal them and get addicted which makes us steal them.” Even they are starting to realize their message is nonsense. Parents of 12 Step cult victims, a large contingent of this organization, are starting to see the absurdity of rallying for longer term ‘treatment’ stays for the very people who bullied their own children to suicide.
Ultimate mischief cult
ISIS theology offers irresistible appeal to satanists-in-denial worldwide: “Allah Akhbar!” justifies all. However like all mischief cults it will eventually self-immolate in its zeal to ‘cast the first stone against the devil’.
School shootings are our own version of ISIS culture, the purpose of which is to incite a war against guns just like the war on drugs. The proponents say that people who support gun rights are crazy then say we must restrict access to guns by crazy people. I mean seriously. What are they thinking? Gun control has no shot.
The solution of course is to teach children right and wrong as we’ve done for hundreds of years and stopped only recently. (Except if you count Steven Colbert’s campaign to teach children that if they do wrong it is because they are either a religious fundamentalist or ‘mentally ill’.) We are a rebellious lot. We much prefer to believe that selfishness and crime are caused by a ‘chemical imbalance in the brain’ even as FBI profiles emphasize the connection with permissive, amoral parenting.
Mental illness is modern day religion – a concoction of satanism, phrenology and medieval humoralism – and we cling to it even as its central tenants are debunked one after another. Addiction, Autism, ADHD, Bi-polar, Depression, and Schizophrenia are all just constructs of the psychiatric industry and big pharma. ‘Therapy’ has been shown to cause suicide and drug treatment has been shown to cause brain damage (e.g. Risperdal and Paxil), creating the very symptoms that constitute the ‘disease’. Yet people still cry for more ‘early intervention and treatment’, which only makes the situation worse.
Ironically, the person who points this out is herself labeled as ‘mentally ill’. But why does it matter if this person prevents someone else from falling into these bottomless traps? And the person who criticizes addiction is called ‘addict in denial’. But why does it matter if this addict prevents another binge drinker from believing another drink or drug will surely be their own undoing?
Addiction and insanity are nothing more than the belief in them. The people who claim to be protecting us from them are actually inflicting them upon us. It’s funny to watch as various oppressed groups start to realize it and cling to it at the same time. Even the experts sometimes seem baffled by the words coming out of their mouths.
A battle is now being fought on college campuses for the hearts and minds of the country’s future leaders. The stated rationale is to prevent people with mental illness from being subjected to emotional distress, but the agenda is to restrict freedom of speech by labeling it ‘microaggression’ so that the population can be more easily manipulated and exploited. The problem, of course, is that it’s too easy use the attackers’ own weapons against them. In this case a liberal college administrator was charged with a crime for satirically using the hash tag #killallwhitemen.
Abraham Lincoln knew that the nation would pay a heavy price for its obduracy. Based on the tremendous progress over the last few years I don’t expect the current battles to be nearly so bloody.
But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. Matthew 12:24
